Morning pictures & Easter dress-up

Here are a couple cute ones of Kate first thing in the morning - she's pretty serious sometimes. She's like her daddy in that she doesn't fall asleep easily, but like her mommy in that she doesn't like waking up either. :) Makes for an interesting mix, sometimes.

Had a little chaos getting out the door for our Easter church service - had her new dress picked out just for the occassion and she was ready to go. Kip & I were just finishing up getting ourselves ready when she came into our bedroom where we were getting dressed. She had one of those self-inflicted wardrobe malfunctions with her new dress, and we couldn't keep her from pulling it down. So... needless to say we had to change her whole outfit before leaving for church because wearing clothes is popular in every church we've every attended! :) The pretty blue floral dress is a little big, so we're hoping to try it on her again in another month or two & hoping she'll leave it alone. Either that, or we'll have to get her a little white tank top to put under it. LOL

Kate playing with her toys

Here are a few photos of Kate with her toys - she's finally starting to 'get it' a little better. She now tries to feed her cups to her dolls and will occasionally wash their face. She has an Elmo that kisses and lamb that sings "Jesus Loves Me" - and now she knows what to do to get the toys to talk by herself! This makes her so happy & proud of herself. :)

Now I'm just showing off - Kate's words

Thought a few of you might be interested in Katie-boo's expanding vocabulary. She is a chatty girl!

Her favorites include: (items w/ *are the sound!)

Mama (of course!), Dada, baby, Rusty (sounds like ruffy), and occasionally will say Mimi (Janet), Nana (Linda) & Grandad.

puppy, *ruff ruff, kitty, *meow, turtle, bird, owl, tiger, *roar, *quack, *oink, *moo, horsey, rabbit - she is currently obsessed w/ puppies and birds!

ball, book, elmo, No!, uh oh!, yeah, more, thank you, please, all gone, bite (when we ask her if she wants another), amen, diaper, car, door, bath, flower, bubble, potty, poopoo, cheese, juice, apple, banana (sounds like manamana), tickle, nose, eye, ear, sock, shoes, pants

She also does baby sign language for 'milk', 'more', and 'potty'

That's all I can think of for now! Not bad for a 16 1/2 month old! :)

She also is saying tons of baby gibberish that we have yet to interpret, and seems to be learning a new word everyday. Obviously, they're not all perfectly pronounced but once you listen to her you'll figure out she says it the same every time. She's gonna talk daddy's ears off! :)

Ridgefest! Easter fun at our church

Fun in the bounce house - her first time ever! :)

Hunting eggs with Mama - wasn't too sure about the point of this activity. She was glad w/ her first one!

Petting zoo w/ Daddy - rabbits & goats & pigs, oh my!

More!

Just before I started filming this video, Kate was using her sign language for the word "more". The two signs that she now uses regularly are for "more" and "milk." Of course, when I started this video, she stopped signing and starting doing her dance & whimper routine to get more. Cute, but not as cute as the sign!

Here she finally does the "more" sign - she taps her two hands together in front of her - I think she also says "cheese" and "no" if you listen closely. She is funny!

Little brother on the way!!

Here are a few sono pictures that I've uploaded from today of our little man on the way!! I'll leave the pictures that prove his manliness off the blog - you can take our word for it since he made himself super clear. :)

There are 3 profile shots - he has one hand up by his mouth where he was periodically sucking on it so the nose looks a little blurry. The next shot is just a cool one of the vertebrae of his spine, and then the last shot is his two little feet and leg bone - the feet are to the right and slightly lower than the word 'feet'. (hope it helps - I know it can be hard to see on these!!) You should be able to double click on them to see them bigger, fyi.

We will update as soon as we find out a name... love to you all.

Kate at the zoo on spring break & an extra!

We went to the zoo as a family w/ our wonderful friends the Campbell's. We had a great time and Kate had a blast riding around on daddy's shoulders & learning the names of the animals. We took a picnic lunch and it was cool and beautiful weather all day - couldn't ask for a better day off! :)

This one is from the Campbell's home a few months ago & they just emailed it to me the other day - I just love her expression here! :)
