This was an excellent movie that we saw with friends this weekend - I can't say enough good things about it & would highly recommend it to all!

Two videos

Kip is clever, and always has a better memory than me. You can even tell him I said that - he'll agree! :) He remembered that our digital camera has a function that allows you to take short movie clips - and I've figured out how to get it to work! Yea! The quality is not that of our camcorder, but it helps in the meantime. I have two short clips to show - they may seem redundant but this is my experiment. Sorry the quality and lighting isn't better - we only had on back lighting since I hadn't anticipated her outburst of playfulness when it occurred. Today we went to walmart - and I hate walmart, but I need to save $$ right now since I'm not exactly bringing in the big bucks anymore. Just when we were leaving & I was moping because it's always so annoying at walmart, this sweet older lady who worked at the balloon counter gave Kate a free balloon. It was like, in that simple moment, she redeemed humanity for me! I think I smiled & let out a big sigh of relief. Not to mention the fact that Kate was super excited - she loves balloons!

This is the first video - she's more vocal in it & funny sounding!

During this second video, at the very end - she waves and says 'buh-bye' twice. She's been waving for awhile, and saying bye-bye occasionally, but not generally putting the two together. Until tonight! Also, she really started clapping earlier this week - so that's my next project to get on camera. I know it's simple "baby-stuff", but y'all are far away & missing a lot of it!! Hope you enjoy.

Here's a few funny pictures, too...

Daddy making her into the tin man - she loves her funnel & wooden spoon.

Cute grin - she was going nuts making a mess - pulling the clean laundry onto the floor. She had just got done crawling all in & out of that sheet behind her & really enjoyed playing in it.

Kate's been busy!!

Yesterday, Kate & I went to the Dallas zoo with our good friend Anna & her two daughters Lauren & Ava. Anna's mother & friend came along too. We had a great time seeing the animals & taking the tram ride. Later, we stopped and ate a picnic lunch - it was great! Unfortunately, there weren't too many photo ops since Kate did spend a lot of time in the stroller. Hopefully Anna or her mother will send me a few shots so I can add them on here.

Later, (after a long nap), Kate went to her first Texas Rangers baseball game! We went with Grandma & Grandad, Quenna, and friends Rob & Lauren. Here are a couple of cute pictures...

Today is my mom's birthday (Mimi), so Kate & I drove up to her office to surprise her for a quick visit!! I got a cute picture - Kate loves balloons!

Happy Birthday, Mom!

Random pictures just because she's cute

She is going to be sorely disappointed when she finds the moths inside my purse!! (Check out the totally cool legwarmers - Remember the 80's anyone? Turns out, they never went out of style for babies!!)

Seriously, just how cute does she get?! This was after church last Sunday. Her hair was cuter in the morning, but we forgot to take a picture until after 2 hours of playtime in the nursery and a nap in the carseat on the way home. Still looks pretty cute, huh?

Still trying to figure out this stupid camcorder thingy - I can send in the tapes to a photo lab for them to put on a disk for me, but they charge $20 a cd. Not worth it until I've increased my footage which right now probably amounts to 20 different 30 second to 3 minute random snippits of Kate the Great.

Hmmm... what to do... what to do...
please feel free to comment! Thanks for checking out "The Great One." :)

How disappointing...

Well, I did a little further research into what it's going to take to get my camcorder videos up onto this blog. Problem was... I couldn't find the usb port! So... after digging through the manual that I finally found, turns out that I somehow bought us a model w/out a usb port! Whah, whah. (insert Debbie downer music) The moral of this story is... don't buy a camcorder that you can't plug into your pc! Duh, right?! I guess it wasn't that obvious to me at the time since this is the first one we've ever purchased. Won't make that mistake twice.

Looks like it only will hook up directly to a vcr or dvd burner. Problem is, our dvd burner is out of whack right now on our pc. Looks like a job for the hubby - in his free time. Poor soul! I seem to really be stacking things onto his honey-do list now that it's football season. It's not me... it just seems like stuff breaks more when there's less time to fix it, know what I mean?!

So I'll leave this with a new funny picture - it's one that daddy took of his 3 girls one fast asleep and the other two on the way. BTW - this is the ONLY time the cat will come within 5 feet of the baby (only when she's nearly unconcious she's so sleepy). :)

Never thought I'd be a blogger...

I've just never been much into journaling. Don't get me wrong - I certainly enjoyed the writing aspect of all of my h.s./college classes the most, but never been into writing just for myself. And, this is sort of like that. The real purpose is to help those far away stay in contact w/ us & our beautiful daughter, but at least for now, it feels like I'm writing to myself. weird!

I intend on adding some tidbits of video from our camcorder to this blog, which will help all those far & wide see Katie-girl in action. First things first though... gotta find the directions to the camcorder! I still haven't downloaded any of the clips to our pc. Can't be that hard... right?! (can you feel my irony coming through the pc?)

In the meantime, I'll leave you with a picture & hope you'll visit w/ our family on occasion! Was she ever this tiny & small (& happily asleep!)?
